Girl Scout Cookie Season is drawing to a close, so now is the perfect time to try out some Girl Scout Cookie recipes!
Although the door-to-door days of my youth are gone, I still love the nostalgia of these sweet treats. And I love knowing the funds generated through sales go to an organization for female youth, an organization that has been around since 1912.
The Girl Scouts supports female youth in America by, “Preparing girls to empower themselves and promoting compassion, courage, confidence, character, leadership, entrepreneurship, and active citizenship through activities involving camping, community service, learning first aid, and earning badges by acquiring practical skills.”
With that mission, who wouldn’t want to support the Girl Scouts?
As a long-time girl scout myself, the organization provided so much to me as a girl. From earning badges, to camping, and friendship as a young girl, today I find it hard to say “no” to the annual call to buy cookies.
As a health and fitness professional, I see my clients struggle with the same dilemmas every year. The Girl Scouts organization is so important to the female youth of America that my clients often feel obligated to support the organization. Part duty, part nostalgia, and part annual ceremony, buying Girl Scout Cookie is more than just buying food.
But Girl Scout Cookies don’t exactly fall into the category of healthy foods.
One of the best strategies for overcoming the emotional ties of buying Girl Scout Cookies when you have health and fitness goals in mind is to find healthy alternatives.
Finding healthy alternatives to Girl Scout Cookies helps us feel less deprived. By making Girl Scout Cookie flavored healthy foods, we can still enjoy the pleasant memories we associate with the Girl Scouts while reaching our goals!
Girl Scout Cookie Shake Recipes that Satisfy
So, you’ve got a hankering for girl scout cookies. Or, maybe you’ve got some in the freezer. But, you know eating a whole sleeve of thin mints is not exactly going to serve your health and fitness goals.
I’ve come up with these shake recipes to save the day! Below, find some healthy shake alternatives to all your ooey-gooey favorite Girl Scout Cookies.
Thin Mints Girl Scout Cookie Shake
Thin Mints are a staple of the Girl Scout cookie institution. Crunchy, chocolaty, and minty, you cannot go wrong with a Thin Mint Shake. I like to include fresh whole food ingredients when I can. Real mint leaves, for example, make the shake extra-special.
Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookie Shake
Ingredients
- 1 scoop LadyBoss Lean
- 8 oz Unsweetened Almond Milk
- 1 tbsp Unsweetened Cocoa
- 1 tsp Mint extract or Mint Leaves
- 5 A handful of Ice Cubes
- 1/4 of a chocolate Graham cracker for the cookie texture
Instructions
- Blend well in a blender.
Tagalongs
Who can say “no” to peanut butter and chocolate? This homemade shake variation satiates all your cravings buttons. For an even lower fat version, swap the nut butter for a defatted nut powder like PBfit. Either way, this shake will remind you of Tagalongs’ creamy, buttery flavor without the guilt.
Tagalongs Girl Scout Cookie Shake
Ingredients
- 1 scoop LadyBoss LEAN
- 8 oz. unsweetened almond milk
- 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa
- 1.5 tbsp nut butter of choice
- ¼ graham cracker
- A handful of ice cubes
Instructions
- Blend well in a blender.
Do-si-does Girl Scout Cookie Shake
Girlscouts.org says, “These sandwich cookies give you crisp and crunchy oatmeal on the outside and creamy peanut butter inside.” Sounds like a match made in heaven to me. And, I love my morning oatmeal with Lean and peanut butter. So, a grab-and-go shake sounds fantastic as well as convenient for busy ol’ me.
Again you can swap the nut butter for a defatted nut powder for a lower fat and calorie version.
Do-Si-Dos Girl Scout Cookie Shake

Samoa / Caramel Delight:
First, let me say that Samoas are the crown jewel of the Girl Scout cookie line, in my opinion. But, Samoas were also my greatest enemy as a young girl. I probably ate more of them than I sold!
Wish I would have had this healthy alternative back then. It checks all the boxes. Coconut, chocolate, and chewy caramel graham cracker will have you smiling and feeling indulgent. But, this recipe is minus the calories.
For a creamier taste, add a little nonfat Greek yogurt.
Samoa/Caramel Delight Girl Scout Cookie Shake

- 1 tbsp sugar-free caramel sauce
- 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa
- 1 tsp coconut extract
- 1 tbsp unsweetened coconut flakes.
- Handful of ice cubes
Instructions
- Blend in blender
Trefoil/Shortbread Cookie
OK, if Samoas are the crown jewel, the Trefoil is the most boring of the Girl Scout cookie line. At least that’s what I thought when I was younger. But as I have gotten older, I have come to appreciate the Trefoil’s pure buttery taste.
Trefoil/Shortbread Girl Scout Cookie Shake
Ingredients
- 1 scoop LadyBoss LEAN
- 8 oz. unsweetened almond milk
- 1 sugar-free shortbread cookie
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp butter extract
- Handful of ice cubes
Instructions
- Blend well in a blender.
Thanks-alot Girl Scout Cookie Shake
The Thanks-alot seems to be the answer to the Trefoils “boring” profile because how do you jazz up something boring? Dip it in chocolate, of course!
Thanks-A Lot Girl Scout Cookie Shake

- 1 sugar-free shortbread cookie

Lemonade
OK, OK. So if chocolate isn’t your thing, the Lemonade is an alternative. The Lemonade is another jazzed up Trefoil. But this time, it’s a Trefoil with lemon flavor. As a shake, the Lemonade tastes terrific. This zesty shortbread shake will satisfy both your sweet tooth and your cookie desire.

Smores Girl Scout Cookie Shake
Smores are a Girl Scout staple. The savory smell of marshmallows, chocolate, and graham cracker brings back fond memories of sitting around the campfire at Camp Kotoya. I think of fun with friends around a campfire singing songs. Although I didn’t love the cookie as much as the original inspiration, I might like the Smores Shake more.
S’Mores Girl Scout Cookie Shake

- 1 tbsp sugar-free chocolate syrup
- 1 sugar-free shortbread cookie
- ¼ graham cracker
- ¼ chocolate graham cracker

- Handful of ice cubes
Instructions

I hope you’ve found inspiration – will satisfaction – in some if not all of these shake ideas.
The recipes in this list are an alternative to buying up all the Girl Scout Cookies under the sun. Next time a friend, family member or acquaintance hits you up to buy cookies, you can graciously say, “No thank you, but I’d love to donate!”
With the knowledge that you can make these healthy alternatives to your favorite Girl Scout Cookies at home, you can still reach those health and fitness goals while continuing to support an organization that brings empowerment, joy, and memories to girls everywhere. On my honor!
